Troubleshooting Internet Connectivity Tip#1

Power cycling, also known as performing a 120 reset (after the 110 volt AC power supply), is the act of turning a piece of computer equipment off and then on again with the intent of recovering from a hung state.

(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_cycling)

PowerCycle resolves a lot of issues with your internet connectivity. In the case of a dsl or a cable connection. This is how it's done.

1. Turn off your modem, router (if you have one) and the computers (this can be optional). This can be done in any order, but it's more advisable to turn off the PC first to save some time

2. After waiting for at least a minute or so, the modem should be turned on first, then at least 2 lights should be stable.

3. Plug in the power cord of your router then wait for another minute.

*Connection should re-established or refreshed.

*If you do not have a router, turning your modem off and on will do.
